After reading this article, you'll learn:

  • How Local Rank Checker works on your agency website

  • How to configure and customize the embedded tool

  • How to add the widget to your website

  • How the tool can help turn website visitors into potential clients

  • How to manage or disable the embedded tool

1 - What is Local Rank Checker?

The tool helps local SEO agencies and freelancers turn website visitors into potential client inquiries by letting them check their business's visibility in Google Maps directly on your website.

You can embed a customizable version of the tool on your agency website, allowing visitors to search for their business, enter relevant keywords, and see how they rank in local Google search results.

Some ranking results are visible, while others are hidden behind question marks (?). Visitors can click a call-to-action to learn more and contact your agency.

This gives potential clients an initial view of their local search visibility while creating a natural opportunity to start a conversation about your SEO services.

2 - Who can use the embedded widget?

The customizable Local Rank Checker widget is available in the Pro features section for users on Localo PRO and Enterprise plans :

Agencies and freelancers can embed it on their websites and customize the messaging and links to direct potential clients to a contact form, consultation booking page, or SEO services page.

3 - How to configure the widget in Localo

Before embedding the tool, configure where it can be displayed and how visitors will interact with it.

3.1 Configure Allowed Domains

  • Open Pro features → Local Rank Checker settings → Allowed Domains.

  • Add the domain of the website where you want to embed the tool.

💡 Tip: Add your website domain both with and without www (e.g., example.com and www.example.com). This helps ensure Local Rank Checker works correctly regardless of which domain version visitors use.

3.2 Customize Messaging

Here you can edit two messages displayed in the Local Rank Checker widget:

  • Button text: The text displayed on the blue button below the selected Google Business Profile.

  • Question mark tooltip: The text visitors see when they hover over a question mark (?) on the ranking map.

  • Both elements can direct visitors to the Target URL you configure below, such as your agency's contact form or consultation booking page. Here is an example:

💡 Choose a destination that makes it easy for visitors to contact your agency.

4 - How to embed the widget on your website

Once you've configured the widget, you can embed it on your website using an iframe code generated in Localo.

Follow these steps:

  1. Save your Local Rank Checker settings in Localo

  2. Copy the generated iframe code

  3. Open your website editor or content management system (CMS)

  4. Navigate to the page where you want to display Local Rank Checker

  5. Add an HTML, custom code, or embed block

  6. Paste the iframe code and publish your changes

  7. Open the published page and check that Local Rank Checker displays and works correctly

💡 Widget language:

Local Rank Checker automatically adjusts its language based on the visitor's browser settings when cookies are enabled. If cookies are blocked, the widget cannot save language preferences or session information, so it may appear in a different language than expected.

5 - Practical example: How to generate leads with Local Rank Checker

Imagine a business owner visiting your agency's website to check how their business ranks in Google Maps.

Here's how the process can work:

  • Step 1 – A visitor checks their local rankings: The business owner opens the widget on your website, selects their business, and enters relevant keywords.

  • Step 2 – The visitor sees partial results: The tool displays some local ranking results, while other positions are hidden behind question marks (?). This gives the visitor an initial understanding of their local visibility while leaving some results undisclosed.

  • Step 3 – The visitor clicks to learn more: The visitor clicks the configured call-to-action to find out more about their results.

  • Step 4 – The visitor reaches your agency's contact page: Depending on the Target URL you've configured, the visitor can be directed to your contact form, consultation booking page, or another relevant destination.

  • Step 5 – The visitor sends an inquiry: If the visitor submits the form or contacts your agency, you receive an inquiry from a potential client who has already shown interest in their local search visibility.

💡 Why this matters for agencies:

  • Local Rank Checker gives visitors a practical reason to engage with your website. By showing some ranking results and offering a clear next step, it can help turn interest in local SEO into a relevant inquiry.

  • A click on the call-to-action is not automatically a lead. The visitor becomes a lead when they submit an inquiry or share their contact details.

6 - How to manage or disable the widget

You can manage your embedded widget through its settings in Localo.

If you no longer want visitors to use the tool, you can disable it.

The widget token remains the same for your Localo account, so you don't need to generate a new code when you enable it again.

❗Usage limits: Local Rank Checker allows up to 10 searches per IP address per day, including when embedded on an agency website. This limit helps prevent automated abuse.
