Verifying your business on Google Maps is crucial for building trust with customers and ensuring your company appears in local search results. If you see the message "Location not found. Verify your business is active on Google Maps," it means there is a problem with your profile's verification or visibility. In this article, you'll discover the common reasons for this issue and learn step-by-step solutions to resolve your Google Business Profile verification problems.

1 - What are the most common reasons I receive this message?

The message ''Location not found. Verify your business is active on Google Maps'' most commonly appears when:

  1. The business profile has not yet been verified by Google, so the location does not appear on the map.

  2. The profile has been suspended or removed by Google due to guideline violations or suspected inauthenticity.

  3. The address information is incorrect or inconsistent, preventing proper association of the business with the location.

  4. The business location has been marked as closed or inactive.

  5. The profile was created, but not configured to serve customers at a specific location - for example, a service-area business only working on-site without a physical storefront.

2 - Where can I check my verification status?

You can check your Google Business Profile verification status by signing in at https://business.google.com/locations and looking under the ''Status'' column - verified profiles will be marked as ''Verified'', unverified or suspicious profiles may display a warning, such as ''Verification required''or ''Pending''.

3 - What steps can I take to fix the verification issue?

Follow these solutions depending on your specific reason to successfully resolve Google Business Profile verification problems.

1. Profile not verified

  • Log in to your Google Business Profile Manager at business.google.com.

  • Find the business profile and look for verification status.

  • Click “Get verified” - choose the offered method (mail, phone, email, or video) to complete verification and enter the code.

  • Make sure all business information (name, address, phone number) is correct before requesting verification.

2. Suspended or removed profile

  • Audit your profile for violations: duplicate listings, virtual addresses, keyword stuffing, or inconsistent business info.

  • Correct all violations - update with accurate, matching information.

  • Use the official Google Business Profile appeals tool to submit the reinstatement request, attaching proof such as licenses, utility bills, or other documents.

  • Wait for Google’s response and follow any further instructions.

3. Incorrect or inconsistent address

  • In Google Business Profile Manager, go to the “Info” tab.

  • Click the pencil next to the address and update your details so they match what’s on your website and directories.

  • Drag the pin to the proper location on the map if needed.

  • Save changes and wait 1-3 days for Google to process the update.

4. Location marked as closed/inactive

  • Log into Business Profile Manager.

  • Select your business, go to “Info,” and look for the option to mark as “Open”.

  • Click “Mark as Open” or similar; your business should return to active status.

5. Profile not configured for a specific location (Service Area Business)

  • If operating from a physical storefront, add your address to the profile.

  • If service-area only, set up your service area properly in profile settings so Google knows your correct operating region.

  • Avoid hiding your address unless necessary; it can reduce your visibility on Maps.

4 - How much time does it take for my business profile to be verified?

For standard Google Business Profile verification, it usually takes between 3 and 7 days once you submit all required information - sometimes up to 14 days, depending on the verification method chosen (postcard, phone, email, video). If your profile was suspended (“banned”), reinstatement can take anywhere from a few days to several weeks; Google typically reviews appeals within 3 to 5 business days, but complex cases can extend this to 1–6 weeks.
