1 - What is Local Business Schema?
Local Business Schema is one of the easiest ways to help search engines understand your business and connect your website with your Google Business Profile.
Local Business Schema (also called Schema Markup, Structured Data, or Schema.org LocalBusiness) is a JSON-LD script added to your website.
It helps search engines understand important information about your business, including:
Business name
Address
Phone number
Opening hours
Website
Business category
Geographic coordinates
📄 To learn about the standard behind structured data, read the Schema.org documentation: link.
2 - Why is it important?
Schema Markup helps search engines understand your business more accurately and connect the information on your website with your Google Business Profile.
Think of it as a digital business card in a language Google understands.
It can help Google:
Better understand your business information
Connect your website with your Google Business Profile
Improve data consistency across Google Search
Better interpret your website for search features and AI-powered experiences
Adding Schema Markup can also make your website eligible for rich snippets (also called rich results) in Google Search, allowing additional business information to appear directly in search results, here is an exemple :
💡 Rich results aren't guaranteed, but correctly implemented structured data is required to become eligible for them.
Local Business Schema does not directly improve rankings. Instead, it helps search engines understand your business, making it an important part of technical SEO.
