How Google evaluates photos in Google Business Profile
1 - What is the Photo Planer feature?
💡 The Photo Planner feature allows you to schedule photos for your Google Business Profile so your content stays fresh and updated regularly.
With Photo Planner, you can upload up to 20 images at once and add more than that, allowing Localo to publish them automatically according to your chosen schedule. This helps maintain a consistent posting rhythm without the need to manually upload photos every time.
Regular photo updates can improve your profile’s activity signals and keep your business listing visually engaging for potential customers.
2 - How to use it in Localo?
💡 Photos can be planned in two ways: automatically or manually.
2.1 Automatic scheduling
In automatic mode, you simply upload your photos and Localo’s algorithm schedules them automatically based on the activity patterns observed in competing profiles.
You can find it here :
In this section you can (photo below👇):
Upload your photos (1) by dragging and dropping them into the upload area
View photos that are already scheduled under section (2)
See photos that have already been published under section (3)
See planned photos in the calendar view (4)
Once you drag/select images from your device, just click "Schedule (x) photos" :
DONE! 👏
2.2 Manual scheduling
If you prefer more control, you can schedule photos manually.
Here is a screenshot and explanation below👇:
After uploading your photos (1), switch to manual mode to define:
How many photos should be published at once (3)
The publishing frequency (3)
The time when photos should be posted (3)
To access manual settings, toggle the switch (2) to display available options.
Then click "Schedule (x) photos". DONE!
For optimal engagement, it is recommended to publish photos frequently, which helps maintain a consistent presence on your Google Business Profile.
Once your schedule is configured, Localo will automatically handle the publishing process.
3. How Google evaluates photos in Google Business Profile
💡 Keep the photos real! No AI, no stock photos.
NO NEED for geotagging in local SEO!
When you upload photos to your Google Business Profile, Google uses computer vision and machine-learning systems to understand what the image shows and how relevant it is to your business.
Instead of relying only on file names or captions, Google analyzes the actual content of the image to detect objects, environments, and context.
Several factors influence how photos are evaluated and how useful they are for your profile.
3.1 Image quality and clarity
Google prefers photos that are:
Clear and well-lit
Properly framed
High resolution and easy to understand
Blurry, dark, or heavily edited images may reduce their usefulness for both users and search algorithms. High-quality photos help customers quickly understand what your business offers.
3.2 Relevance to your business
Google analyzes whether the photo matches your business category and services.
For example, photos of:
Products or services
Interior or exterior of the location
Team members or work environment
These help Google better understand your business and match it with relevant searches.
3.3 Freshness and activity
Regularly uploading new photos signals that a business is active and up-to-date.
Profiles that add photos regularly tend to receive more engagement and visibility in local search results.
3.4 Authenticity
Google prefers authentic photos of the real business.
Images that appear heavily edited, artificial, or similar to stock photos may be less effective. Photos that show the real environment, products, or team build more trust with users.
