Understanding where your competitors are located and how well they’re performing on Google Maps is essential for improving your own local visibility. With Localo, you can easily track competitor positions and analyze their local performance directly from your keyword visibility map.
1 - How to access the Competitor Map?
If your business performs better in some areas but struggles in others, competitor location is often a key factor. Businesses with stronger local authority nearby can limit your visibility - even if your listing is optimized.
Localo helps you analyze competitor presence visually by plotting the top 20 local search results for any keyword on a dynamic map.
Here is how to access the map:
1. Start by generating your keyword visibility map
Once you've selected your keyword(s) and Localo generates your visibility map, open it from your dashboard.
2. Zoom into the map for better visibility
Adjust the view so the map centers around your business location (usually the middle of the grid).
3. Click on the central grid point
This triggers the map to display all businesses in the top 20 Google Maps results for that keyword.
2 - Compare Your Competitor’s Search Result Visibility
Once your map is loaded, Localo lets you go one step further - not just seeing where your competitors are, but also how well they’re performing compared to your business.
To view a competitor’s visibility grid:
Click on any competitor in the sidebar list
The map will switch to show their visibility instead of yours. You’ll instantly see their reach, coverage, and weak spots.Review the ranking color gradient
Just like your visibility map, green zones indicate high rankings, red or gray areas mean they rank lower or not at all. Use this to pinpoint where you can outrank them.
3 - View Exact Search Results from Any Point on the Map
You can go even deeper. For every point on your map, Localo allows you to preview the actual Google Maps search results as they would appear to a person searching from that location.
How to do it:
Simply click any grid point
A list of businesses located in that specific area will be displayed in section 2 of the map report
This shows the real SERP (Search Engine Results Page) for that exact location, including competitors you might not have noticed yet
